Join Us in Celebrating Unity Through Art! As we present MaricónX 2025 El Pueblo Unido
El Pueblo Unido is an art exhibition celebrating the resilience, diversity, and unity of the LGBTQ+ community. The title, "The People United," is a rallying cry for solidarity and strength. Historically, "El Pueblo Unido" has been a powerful chant and slogan for Mexican Americans advocating for civil rights and social justice. This phrase has roots in the Chicano Movement, symbolizing the collective power and unity of the community in the fight against discrimination, inequality, and oppression. By invoking this phrase, the exhibition draws on the intersectionality of the queer and immigrant fight for human rights, highlighting how these struggles are deeply intertwined. It underscores the shared experiences of marginalization, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity and recognition.
This show seeks to amplify voices from all walks of life, especially those historically marginalized. El Pueblo Unido aims to create a space where art becomes a powerful force for visibility and change.
Eligibility:
We welcome submissions from LGBTQ+ artists of all backgrounds, emphasizing works that reflect intersectional identities such as BIPOC, disabled, and immigrant experiences. Allies whose work aligns with the show's mission are encouraged to apply.
