Presented by Arttitude in Collaboration with Das Blümelein Project and Pride Frisco
Arttitude, in collaboration with Das Blümelein Project and Pride Frisco, proudly presents Voices Beyond Boundaries, a groundbreaking classical music recital that pairs 17th and 18th century Italian arias with contemporary counterparts from the New Music Anthology for Trans & Nonbinary Voices, Vol. 1 (2021), curated by trans nonbinary writer and singer, Aiden K. Feltkamp (they/he), who is “upending preconceptions about voice and gender” (New York Times), offering a transformative evening of musical storytelling that explores the richness, resilience, and triumphs of our shared human experience.
Notably, the latter invites us to experience complex and universal topics through the lived experiences of lesser-known trans and nonbinary composers and lyricists of the 21st century as a counterpoint to traditional gender binary norms, which have been the de facto purview in secular art songs, arias, and the like throughout recorded history.
The program showcases the following artists:
Shayna Isaacs (they/them/theirs)
José Miguel (he/him/his)
Christopher Briggs-Rodriguez (he/him/his)
Thiago Nascimento (he/him/his), collaborative pianist,
preceded by a panel discussion. Come experience an evening of exquisite storytelling through stirring vocal renditions, inclusivity, empowerment, and artistic excellence that will uplift and inspire.
This recital is made possible by a grant from the Moody Fund for the Arts.
