Join Arttitude at Mundo Latino, a part of the State Fair of Texas, as we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month!
Arttitude and Mundo Latino invite artists to explore "Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent" through a contemporary lens, delving into how this ancient Aztec deity resonates with today's society. This call for art encourages examination of themes such as LGBTQIA rights, women's empowerment, and cultural diversity, reflecting on how the symbolism and legacy of Quetzalcoatl can inspire and inform modern-day life and social issues.
Quetzalcoatl, symbolizing wisdom, fertility, and transformation, presents a unique opportunity for artists to reinterpret and reimagine this ancient icon in today's pressing social issues. How would Quetzalcoatl manifest in the context of gender equality, LGBTQIA identities, cultural diversity, or environmental stewardship? This call for art explores Quetzalcoatl's profound and evolving significance in addressing contemporary challenges and inspiring transformative solutions.
Artists are invited to submit works that blend traditional depictions with innovative interpretations. We encourage the fusion of classic Aztec motifs, such as feathers and serpentine forms, with symbols of modern activism and everyday life. Explore how Quetzalcoatl's narrative intersects with contemporary challenges and aspirations, celebrating resilience, inclusivity, and the evolving tapestry of cultural heritage. This is an opportunity to showcase how ancient wisdom can inform and inspire responses to today's social issues, reflecting the timeless relevance of Quetzalcoatl's story.
Additionally, pieces inspired by the Day of the Dead are welcomed, weaving ancestral reverence and celebration into the artistic dialogue. Artists are invited to integrate themes of remembrance, life, and the cyclical nature of existence as they explore Quetzalcoatl's relevance in today's world.
Selected artworks will be showcased in an exhibition that honors the deity's timeless spirit while sparking conversations about our collective journey toward a more just and interconnected society.
